To
provide personalized location-based information service according to the
location of client device has been a trend nowadays. As a new generation of
smart mobile-phone platform, Android provides the support of location service
and long-distance communication originally, which enables programmers to
develop related applications easily with Java. This paper introduces the
architecture and component models of Android, and the design method of a
location-based information service is then presented. The design example shows
how to requesting query in a remote server to find certain kind of places
within the given distances to the location of clients’ device provides by the
location service.
